HS Day 4: Internet Channel Surfing, Halloween Edition

Some say cop out, some say resurrection of a grand site tradition!  The truth, is probably in the middle, but either way, here’s some internet goodness to get you in the holiday spirit.

-Over at X-Entertainment.com, it’s the site’s yearly Halloween Countdown, which has been going on for a few weeks now.  Matt reviews all manner of things Halloween-ish, from candy, to cocktails, to ridiculous toys.  It’s always a great read, it’s always entertaining, and as I’ve said before, X-Entertainment was a big influence on this site, so go show him some love.

-It’s time to learn what Halloween means to Steven Lynch: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ImnMucno1ew

-I tend to focus on all the creepy aspects of the Halloween season, but there’s one I tend to overlook; candy.  Luckily, Jerry Seinfeld has me covered: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MarBVyZVe9s

– If you’re like me, you go out for the occasional ghost hunt.  I realize it’s far more likely that you’re not like me.  However, if you ghost hunting is your thing, and you’re looking for a place to check out, look no further than the Shadowlands Haunted Places Index.  A massive index of haunted places for every state in the U.S. and some other countries as well.  Far warning, some of them are quite a bit sensationalized.

-Let’s all learn about the History of Halloween

– Poorly made old Halloween costumes + poor quality photography= Surprisingly creepy pictures

-Trying to figure out what your costume should be this year?  Let Cracked.com help you out with 25 Sexy Halloween Costumes That Shouldn’t Exist or The 30 Most Unsettling German Halloween Costumes

– Cracked is actually really great for getting you into a creepy, unsettled mood, so settle in and read about The 6 Creepiest Places on Earth (Part 1) (Part 2)   and some Creepy Urban Legends, That Just So Happen to be True! (Part 1) (Part 2) (Part 3) (Part 4)

– How about some old, free horror movies to get you in the Halloween Spirit?  Youtube has a large selection and I recommend The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari  White Zombie  Nosferatu and of course Night of the Living Dead

– Watch as Mr. Show examines if Monster Parties are Fact or Fiction (probably a bit NSFW)

– If you’re trying to get into watching horror movies this year, and want some suggestions, IGN’s list of the Top 25 Horror Movies of All Time is a good place to start.

– Finally, here’s something that always gets me in the Halloween spirit; my favorite Halloween episode of any television show ever. (besides The Simpsons) It’s the Adventures of Pete and Pete episode “Halloweenie”
